TOUGHERthan (Tt) is a platform that’s meeting the moment: challenging the default lens and dominant culture. Learning. Unlearning. Relearning. Questioning for what purpose and seeking meaningful impact. Here you’ll find in-house articles, uncomfortable conversations, wellbeing practises, active projects and neighbouring collectives. We also offer workshops and consulting.

Our experience of obstacles is unique to each of us and includes things such as societal, mental and physical barriers. Being TougherThan is a call to action. It’s a practise that necessitates choosing a no-exceptions accountability for our mindset, our actions (and reactions), and their impact on the world around us. TougherThan challenges you to seek discomfort and leave the rigidity of prescribed ABCs. We highlight the “SUPER. HUMAN.” perspective and we advocate being a force greater than your obstacle.

It is then complemented with a three-sided, top, right, and bottom, square border outline in black. The visual effect is to have the symbol inside a box. Inside and along the bottom of the now created box is the word “tougherthan”. “Tougher” is written in all caps in very dark grey. “Than” is written in lower case in lighter grey colour. The “A” in “than” is substituted for a yellow greater than symbol.

origin story

2009 | In the glamorous silver gild of Ginza, amid a superfluity of nondescript buildings, an unexceptional 6th floor office marks the intersect of co-founders Ness Murby and Eva Fejes. 

Chapters later they’d nurtured a personal proverb into a practise, competing at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games along the journey, and launched “TOUGHERthan” as a movement in 2020. 

Being TOUGHERthan is being a force greater than your obstacle. It’s the act of affecting the dynamic between individual and adversity through the shifting of our perceptions. It’s reframing what’s possible. This platform delivers the TOUGHERthan concept in practise – thought-provoking content that serves to raise awareness and demand accountability.
